Creating a Great Listing

A well-crafted listing attracts serious buyers and helps you sell faster. Here's how to create a listing that stands out.

Writing Your Title

Your title is the first thing buyers see:

  • Include the make, model, and year
  • Add key details like "barn find" or "running project"
  • Keep it clear and searchable
  • Avoid ALL CAPS or excessive punctuation

Good example: "1972 MGB GT - Running Project - Solid Base"

Writing Your Description

Be thorough and honest:

  • History: How long you've owned it, where it came from
  • Condition: Be specific about both good and bad points
  • Work done: List any restoration already completed
  • Work needed: Be upfront about what's required
  • Included items: Spare parts, manuals, history file

Structure Your Description

Make it easy to read:

  • Use paragraphs and spacing
  • Break up information logically
  • Put the most important details first
  • Include dimensions/measurements if relevant

What to Avoid

  • Vague descriptions ("needs some work")
  • Hiding problems—they'll be found at viewing
  • Exaggerated claims
  • Spelling and grammar errors
  • Copied descriptions from other listings
Tip: Put yourself in the buyer's shoes. What would you want to know before making a trip to view?
