Starting a Project Journal

Project Journals let you document your restoration journey, share progress, and inspire others. They're also a fantastic record of your work.

Why Keep a Journal?

  • Document your progress and decisions
  • Get feedback and advice from the community
  • Create a valuable record for future owners
  • Inspire others tackling similar projects
  • Look back on how far you've come

Creating Your Journal

  1. Go to "My Journals" in your dashboard
  2. Click "Create New Journal"
  3. Give your journal a title (e.g., "1967 Mini Cooper S Restoration")
  4. Write an introduction about the project
  5. Add photos of the starting point
  6. Publish to share with the community

Adding Journal Entries

Each entry is a chapter in your restoration story:

  • Describe what you worked on
  • Include plenty of photos
  • Share challenges and how you solved them
  • List parts used and where you sourced them
  • Note time spent and costs if helpful

Tips for Great Journals

  • Update regularly—even small progress counts
  • Be honest about mistakes and setbacks
  • Take "before" photos—you'll want them later
  • Respond to comments and questions
  • Tag relevant groups or topics

Privacy Options

  • Public: Anyone can view and follow
  • Unlisted: Only visible with direct link
Tip: Some of the most popular journals are those that show the reality of restoration—including the difficult bits. Don't just share the glamorous moments!
