I got this lathe with the idea of refurbishing it but life has got in the way and its not likely to happen in the near future. Its actually a very nice lathe. It is an early Myford ML7 from 1949!! The lathe bed (as measured by my callipers) is in quite good condition and very little wear. The cross slide moves evenly and well with a tiny stiffness towards the tailstock but that would be expected. The spindle has a little scoring on the front bearing end. It runs OK with very little play -- about 1 thou if you heave on a bar, The bearings themselves are the original white metal. I replaced the leadscrew on one of the top slides. Play overall generally is OK. A friend commented positively on the cross slide movement/play but that is just opinion. I think one of the backgears gears has a slight chip on a tooth but I couldn't see it last time I looked. It comes with a 4 way toolpost as well as the original toolpost (not pictured). Also I will include a 6" 3 jaw chuck (its condition is "OK" but don't get too excited) and a faceplate. There is also a full set of change wheels - again not pictured. I will include a rear parting tool and holder which I made as a learning project. There may well be other goodies when I go through my bits and pieces in the workshop. I also have a dividing head and vertical slides which I may put on eBay later. Generally it is in a reasonable condition and I would like to renovate it myself but its got to go. A previous owner painted it in hammerite and that needs to come off! Finally it comes with a stand and raising blocks. Really finally -- buyer will have to collect from Clevedon, near J20 M5. It will fit in most cars. I can provide labour to help load. You are welcome to take a look.
